Whether it is a 1kWp domestic installation, or a megawatt solar farm, a solar PV installation is a significant investment for most people.  And with the advent of the Feed-In Tariff, the financial implications of any downtime are much more significant than they previously were. This means that effective monitoring of PV systems is now essential to ensure peak efficiency and maximum yield.  

Most domestic customers prefer to have their inverters hidden out of sight in the loft or a garage, while for larger installations they will be in a plant room. This means that the generation meter is the only easy way of showing if the system is working, and chances are that once the initial excitement of having the system installed has died down, this will only be checked once a week – if that.

While it is very rare for modules or inverters to fail, it is not unknown, so the sooner a customer can be alerted to a problem the better. Increasingly too, customers are looking for more detailed information about their system’s performance than can be provided by looking at the display on the inverter or the generation meter. Whether it is the ability to download system information to a PC for analysis or to view in real time values such as Array voltage,Grid voltage,Grid (injected) current or readings from sensors to show module temperature or ambient temperature, Ardenham Energy are able to provide a solution to match the customer’s needs and budget.
