RENEWABLE HEAT PREMIUM PAYMENT
Fantastic news for customers who are thinking of installing a Heat Pump. The Government has announced the new Renewable Heat Premium Payment which is essentially a grant designed to help with the installation costs of putting a Heat Pump in your home. As a Heat Pump usually costs more to install than a standard fossil fuel boiler the Renewable Heat Premium Payment helps with the higher capital outlay.
All domestic properties that are not on mains gas will qualify to receive £850 for an Air Source Heat Pump and £1250 for a Ground Source Heat Pump. Homeowners must give feedback on how the equipment performs by completing two surveys, 6 months apart and may be required to have monitoring equipment fitted so the Government can gather more data on Heat Pump performance.The government has also assured that receiving this grant will not affect the forthcoming Renewable Heat Incentive which will pay you £100’s every year for 20 years just for installing a Heat Pump in your home.
"People who have installed the kit under the Premium Payments will also be eligible for support through the RHI providing they meet the eligibility criteria of the full RHI scheme, as will anybody else who has installed eligible equipment since 15 July 2009".

THE RENEWABLE HEAT INCENTIVE
The Renewable Heat Incentive is a revolutionary scheme, initiated by the British government, will pay you for every KWh of heat energy you produce from a renewable source. This essentially means that you will be entitled to hundreds of pounds every year when you install a Heat Pump. The amount of money you receive will vary depending on the size of Heat Pump you install but it will be at least several hundred pounds based on the proposed figures.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer made the announcement as part of the Spending Review in October 2010.
“£860 million funding for the Renewable Heat Incentive which will be introduced from 2011-12. This will drive a more-than-tenfold increase of renewable heat over the coming decade, shifting renewable heat from a fringe industry firmly into the mainstream.”
